Fans Demand Custody of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are urging that a man who jumped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, securing a pair for best costume and set decoration.
