Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
