Israelis have assembled across the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-initiated offensive on 7 October 2023, as talks advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The incident resulted in over 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as hostages. It was the uniquely most fatal day for Jewish people since the Second World War.

Israel responded by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has claimed over 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its figures are seen as reliable by the UN and other international bodies.

"The aggressive enemies have struck forcefully, but they have not broken us," the prime minister remarked on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "achieve all the aims of the war: the return of all the captured, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not present a risk to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The national leadership delayed state memorials until mid-October - after the completion of the religious holiday season - but ceremonies still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of Israeli citizens who lost their lives in the Hamas assault was held in the coastal city. Put together by the families themselves, it was televised on Israeli television channels.

Some time earlier, a silent tribute was held throughout the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Meanwhile, both sides' delegations convened in the North African Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a second day of third-party negotiations to review the provisions of the plan.

A high-ranking delegate involved in the negotiations indicated that an night meeting of indirect talks began at evening in Egypt.

The official explained the earlier meeting finished without concrete outcomes, due to disagreements over the suggested Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not restart fighting after the first phase of the arrangement.

He added that the discussions are "tough and have still not achieve any significant progress," but noted that facilitators are working hard to reduce the disparities between the conflicting groups.

Critical Matters in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The swap of the hostages still detained by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The pullout of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for humanitarian aid distribution
  • After-conflict management of the region

Citizen Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square previously, young a woman - whose sibling lived through the incident on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were murdered and dozens more were captured by Hamas fighters - explained: "No location seems like home anymore and until every captive come back no one will have peace of mind."

"When we see everyone home again, we can feel relief once more. Then we can begin to heal," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in Jerusalem, people gathered to show their backing for the families of the abducted. Israel says 48 stay in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are believed to be surviving.

Activist a participant explained: "We need do whatever arrangement necessary for the abducted to come back home. But we sincerely need promises that we will be secure."

Research now consistently show that about seventy percent of Israeli citizens prefer the war to conclude in as payment for the release of the captives.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of the music event, those paying respects came together to pay their respects.

From that location, the noise of aerial bombardments and shelling could be heard just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people said the severe Israeli bombardment continued.

In the main city, air and artillery strikes were noted in the dawn of Tuesday in the western district, Rimal and zone districts and in the east side area of the community, as well the camp to the northwest.

"When the night comes, the fear arrives with it," displaced Gaza City resident a local woman, whose teenage son was died by an Israeli bombing earlier, described.

"My family are afraid of the air strikes. All the night we are sleeping together, clinging, especially my little child who places his face on me the entire evening."

"Constantly we monitor the updates to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this truce will not be finalized and that the conflict will return to us."

Medical Crisis

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had accepted the corpses of half dozen people by the afternoon, including a trio killed in an Israeli strike in the southern area.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of that area reported two more victims had been brought there. An individual was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while looking for aid to the south, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry said twenty-five of the {territ
