Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
