Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"There have been any of those conversations," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I possess a unique position here at a special club. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Everything external hasn't touched my radar."

Context and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think everyone has to go around and declare what they were, but of course it's a really big football club."

McKenna signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was questioned about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Position

The former striker represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition performance, should they not end up their group second place.

Considering his present position, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
